Trongg Pao Sang peak experiences freezing temperatures in Vietnam
Trongg Pao Sang, a mountain peak exceeding 1,500 meters in altitude located in Northwest Vietnam, has gained attention for its rare freezing weather phenomena. The peak, situated in the La Pan Tan area, was previously part of Mu Cang Chai district in Yen Bai province and is designated to belong to Pung Luong commune in Lao Cai province following 2025 administrative reassignments.
During significant cold spells, such as in January 2018, temperatures at the summit have been reported by locals to drop below 0°C. These conditions have caused thick ice to coat vegetation, turning the green landscape into a white, frost-covered scenery reminiscent of European winters. While these temperature readings are based on local observations rather than official meteorological station data, the resulting ice formations on trees and grass have drawn numerous tourists and residents to witness the natural phenomenon.
