Tropico 7 story trailer reveals new campaign and terraforming

Kalypso Media and Gaming Minds Studios have released a new story trailer for the upcoming city-building simulation, Tropico 7. The footage provides a detailed look at the campaign, which follows the rise of El Presidente from a colonial governor serving the British Crown to a powerful ruler seeking to shape history on his own terms.

The narrative introduces a new antagonist, revolutionary Victoria Guerra, who poses a direct threat to El Presidente’s political ambitions through intrigue and shifting alliances. The campaign will span five maps and features the return of the advisor Penultimo.

Gameplay enhancements in Tropico 7 include larger islands and a new terraforming system that allows players to physically alter the landscape by raising or removing mountains. The game is scheduled for release on January 28, 2027, for PC, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2, and will be available on Xbox Game Pass on day one.
