Troy archaeological sites see 32 percent visitor increase

The Troy Museum, Troy Archaeological Site, and Assos Archaeological Site in Çanakkale, Turkey, welcomed 860,834 visitors during the first nine months of 2026. This represents a 32.2 percent increase compared to the same period last year.

Specific growth was noted at the Troy Museum, which saw 223,762 visitors, a 32.9 percent rise that allowed it to surpass its total 2025 attendance by the end of September. The Assos Archaeological Site experienced an even more significant surge, with visitor numbers increasing by over 80 percent.

This rise in interest is attributed to international cultural developments, including the release of Christopher Nolan’s film, The Odyssey, and the Troy and Rome exhibition held at the Roman Colosseum. The latter exhibition featured collections from the Troy Museum, highlighting cultural cooperation between Turkey and Italy.
