Troy excavations reveal Roman-era streets and Bronze Age structures

Archaeologists conducting excavations in Troy, located in Çanakkale, Turkey, have uncovered new historical evidence spanning several millennia. Recent findings in the Lower City include grand Roman-era avenues lined with columns and shop facades, providing insight into the commercial and daily life of that period.

Researchers are also investigating signs of destruction near the South Gate within the Troy VI-VII layers, which are linked to the legendary Trojan War. Additionally, teams are working within the Troy acropolis to uncover secrets regarding Bronze Age palace structures. The site, a UNESCO World Heritage monument, contains ten layers of history ranging from the Early Bronze Age to the Eastern Roman period.
