Troy house fire kills couple and 11-year-old daughter

A fatal house fire in the Beman Park neighborhood of Troy, New York, has claimed the lives of a couple and their 11-year-old daughter. Officials identified the victims as Dominick Rizzo Jr., 37, and his fiancée, Alicia Ruefle, 39. Their daughter, Abigail Rizzo, also passed away after being treated at Westchester Medical Center.

The blaze occurred Sunday night at a single-family home on 13th Street. The couple’s 13-year-old son survived the incident by jumping from a second-floor window, where he was assisted by a neighbor. In addition to the human casualties, seven family dogs died in the fire.

Firefighters from Troy and surrounding communities, including Albany, Green Island, and Watervliet, responded to the scene. Two firefighters sustained second-degree burns during the operation but were treated and released from the hospital. The New York State Office of Fire Prevention and Control is leading the investigation into the cause of the fire.
