Troy Jackson declines to specify billionaire tax rate

Maine Democratic U.S. Senate nominee Troy Jackson declined to provide a specific tax rate or income bracket for billionaires during a CNN interview on Monday. When pressed by host Dana Bash regarding his campaign pledge to tax the wealthy, Jackson stated he would focus on income tax and rolling back existing tax cuts.

Jackson did not commit to a specific percentage, noting, “I’m sure we’ll figure out what that percentage is going to be when I get there.” He expressed a desire to work with both Democratic and Republican colleagues to develop a system that prevents the middle class from bearing the tax burden, targeting individuals making millions of dollars a year who currently benefit from tax cuts.
