Tàrrega deploys civic agents to improve urban cleanliness

The municipality of Tàrrega has deployed ten civic agents, organized into five pairs, to reinforce urban cleanliness and community coexistence. These agents are distributed across six zones of the municipality to address minor public space incidents and collect direct feedback from residents.

Key responsibilities include removing small waste such as bottles or plastic containers, manual weeding of sidewalks and verges, and providing information regarding the ‘Porta a Portai’ selective waste collection system. The initiative also includes street surveys to assess the state of urban furniture, green zones, and general cleanliness.

This deployment represents the first phase of a broader action plan by the Tàrrega City Council to combat incivility. A second phase is planned, which will involve hiring a security service to monitor conflict areas and inspect improperly disposed trash bags to identify and sanction offenders.
