Três Lagoas faces storm damage and extreme weather

Três Lagoas and other regions in Mato Grosso do Sul have experienced severe weather, including intense heat followed by heavy storms and strong winds. On Saturday, May 19, wind gusts caused damage across various parts of Três Lagoas, resulting in fallen trees, damaged commercial structures, broken billboards, and tilted public lighting poles. Some residents also reported interruptions in water and electricity services.

Meteorological agencies, including CEMTEC and INMET, had previously issued warnings for the region, forecasting high temperatures reaching up to 38°C, low humidity, and the potential for thunderstorms, lightning, and hail. The instability is expected to continue as a cold front associated with an extratropical cyclone approaches, bringing more widespread and persistent rainfall with accumulations potentially exceeding 40 millimeters in 24 hours in certain areas.
