TRT-15 updates labor process for former Jornal da Cidade employees

The Regional Labor Court of the 15th Region (TRT-15) has updated a legal process involving former employees of Jornal da Cidade (JC) following complaints filed with the National Council of Justice (CNJ). The update follows a 2024 judicial order to attach the case to another proceeding currently under appeal at the Superior Labor Court (TST).

Former employees reported that certain legal actions have been pending for 21 years. In response to complaints regarding procedural delays, the TRT-15 attributed the slow progress to a high volume of cases—approximately 35,000—and a shortage of staff. The TST's Corregedoria-Geral noted that it does not have the authority to interfere in the procedural handling of regional courts due to their judicial autonomy, advising creditors to continue using the TRT-15 Ombudsman as the appropriate channel for complaints regarding delays.
