TRT co-produced films selected for 99th Academy Awards

Three films co-produced by TRT have been selected as official national entries for the Best International Feature Film category at the 99th Academy Awards.

Turkey’s nominee is ‘Kesilmiş Bir Ağaç Gibi’ (Like a Cut Tree), directed by Tunç Davut. The film, which previously won the TRT Co-production Award at 12 Punto, follows the story of a retired civil engineer and his family during a holiday period.

France has selected ‘Minotaur’, directed by Andrey Zvyagintsev. A co-production involving France, Germany, Turkey, and Latvia, the film won the Grand Prix at the Cannes Film Festival and explores the moral and emotional collapse of a Russian businessman.

Japan’s nominee is ‘All of a Sudden’, directed by Ryusuke Hamaguchi. This co-production between France, Japan, Turkey, Germany, and Belgium premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, where lead actresses Virginie Efira and Tao Okamoto won Best Actress awards. The film depicts a human transformation set between Paris and Kyoto.

The Academy is expected to announce a shortlist of 15 films on December 15, 2026, with official nominees revealed on January 21, 2027. The 99th Academy Awards ceremony is scheduled for March 14, 2027.
