TRT launches drama series Asırlık Gece about 15 July 2016 coup attempt

TRT 1 is broadcasting a new drama series titled Asırlık Gece. The show is adapted from Doç. Dr. Hüseyin Aydın’s book “Asırlık Gece: Belgeler ve Deliller Işığında 15 Temmuz Darbe Girişimi” and dramatizes the preparation and events of the 15 July 2016 attempted coup, including key locations such as the Presidential Palace, the Turkish Grand National Assembly, TRT headquarters and the Bosphorus bridges.

The series features a high‑profile Turkish cast – Erkan Petekkaya as General Salih Zeki Çolak, Seçkin Özdemir, Murat Aygen as Hakan Fidan, Burak Sergen, Rüzgar Aksoy as Ömer Halisdemir and several others – and was filmed in Istanbul, Ankara and Balıkesir. New episodes air weekly on Fridays; episode 4 is scheduled for 24 July 2026 at 20:00 on TRT 1, continuing the show’s strong viewer interest.
