Truck accidents cause injuries and environmental concerns in Brazil
Two separate heavy vehicle accidents occurred on Friday, October 23, in Brazil, resulting in injuries and environmental risks.
In Minas Gerais, a large ore-carrying truck collided with a semi-trailer during an overtaking maneuver on the BR-262 highway near Luz. The side-impact collision left one driver injured and caused a significant oil spill on the roadway. The injured driver was transported to Hospital Senhora Aparecida by rescue teams.
In Goiás, a diesel tanker overturned and caught fire on the BR-020 highway near Flores de Goiás. The driver sustained serious injuries and was rescued by bystanders before being taken to a medical facility. Firefighters used approximately 5,000 liters of water to extinguish the blaze and prevent explosions. The accident resulted in diesel leaking onto the road and into a nearby cerrado area, prompting the Federal Highway Police to contact Ibama to assess potential environmental damage.
