Truck accidents reported in Brazil and Mozambique

Two separate heavy vehicle accidents have been reported in Brazil and Mozambique.

In Toledo, Brazil, a truck carrying ammonium nitrate overturned at a roundabout, striking a car. The driver, a 21-year-old, sustained injuries to his clavicle and was taken for medical treatment; the driver of the car was uninjured. Firefighters reported that there was no leakage of the chemical, as the ammonium nitrate was in a pasty state, reducing immediate risks. Authorities plan to transfer the cargo to a secure location before removing the vehicle, while environmental assessments will be conducted to check for soil contamination.

In Matola, Mozambique, a collision occurred in the Texlom zone when a truck transporting ferrochrome struck a parked truck carrying bricks. The impact caused explosions that completely carbonized both vehicles and their cargo. While there were no fatalities, the material damage was significant. Police officials suggested the collision may have been caused by driver fatigue and improper signaling by the stationary vehicle.
