Truck accidents reported on bridges in Amazonas and Minas Gerais
Two separate truck accidents involving bridges occurred in Brazil. In the state of Amazonas, a box truck fell from a bridge over the Aracu River on the AM-174 highway, located between the municipalities of Novo Aripuanã and Apuí. Witnesses reported the vehicle fell from a height of over 20 meters. While injuries were reported, no fatalities have been confirmed, and the exact cause of the accident remains unclear.
In Minas Gerais, a truck fell from a bridge over the Ribeirão da Prata on the BR-265 highway near São João del-Rei. The driver lost control of the vehicle, striking the bridge's protective structure. The tractor unit fell near the water, while the semi-trailer remained on the bridge, blocking traffic. The driver was treated by SAMU for leg abrasions and a suspected broken rib; a breathalyzer test returned a negative result for alcohol.
