Petrolândia TFD Van Crash Leaves Seven Dead in Pernambuco

A frontal collision on the PE‑360 highway between Floresta and Ibimirim in the Sertão of Pernambuco killed seven people on the early morning of Thursday, July 23. The crash involved a truck and a municipal van used by the Tratamento Fora do Domicílio (TFD) service of Petrolândia, which was transporting patients to Arcoverde. Nine people were aboard the van; six occupants of the van and the truck driver died at the scene, while survivors were taken to local hospitals, including the Municipal Hospital Álvaro Ferraz in Floresta and the Eduardo Campos Hospital in Serra Talhada.

Emergency responders – police, fire, the Institute of Criminalistics, the Institute of Legal Medicine and ambulance services – were deployed to the site. Authorities opened an investigation into the cause of the collision. Petrolândia’s mayor announced an official period of mourning, and the state governor expressed condolences and pledged support for the victims’ families.
