Truck crash on Jalinsum kills one, injures 14 in Labuhanbatu Selatan, Indonesia

A truck loaded with goods lost its brakes on the Jalan Lintas Sumatra (Jalinsum) near Jalan Jenderal Sudirman in Kotapinang, Labuhanbatu Selatan, North Sumatra, on the night of 4 July 2026. The vehicle smashed into two parked cars, a line of motorcycles and street‑vendor stalls, causing a single fatality at the scene and 14 additional people to be taken to RSUD Kotapinang for intensive care.

Witnesses said the driver was traveling at high speed from Medan toward Riau when the accident occurred around 22:30 local time. Emergency crews and local residents assisted with evacuating the victims and freeing the trapped driver from the wreckage.
