Truck driver injured in collision with express bus near Mukah

A 53-year-old truck driver was injured following a collision between an express bus and a three-tonne truck on the Balingian-Kuala Balingian road near Mukah on October 26, 2026.

Preliminary investigations suggest the Hino express bus was traveling from Mukah toward Bintulu and attempted to overtake another vehicle when it collided with the truck, which was reportedly turning right. The impact caused the truck to lose control and overturn at the roadside. The truck driver was treated for a headache and referred to Bintulu Hospital.

The bus driver and all 12 passengers escaped the incident without injury. Passengers were transferred to a different bus to complete their journey to Bintulu. The accident occurred on a straight, two-way road with a flat, dry surface. The express bus sustained front-end damage, while the truck sustained damage to its rear and roof.

Mukah District Police are investigating the incident under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, concerning careless and inconsiderate driving. Authorities are seeking CCTV footage, dashboard camera recordings, and witness statements to assist the inquiry.
