A4 motorway accident kills 52-year-old truck driver near Pocenia

A fatal traffic accident occurred on the A4 Venezia-Trieste motorway near Pocenia during the early hours of Saturday, August 22. The victim has been identified as Alessandro Pizzato, a 52-year-old resident of Dolo.

According to preliminary investigations by the Polizia Stradale, the incident involved a heavy truck and an automobile. An automobile traveling in the same direction reportedly rear-ended the truck. The impact caused the driver to lose control, leading the truck to strike the central safety barrier and overturn on the driver's side. Pizzato died at the scene.

Emergency services, including the 118 medical team, firefighters, and Autostrade Alto Adriatico personnel, responded to the site. While traffic initially flowed normally, congestion developed toward Trieste during the rescue and cleanup operations. The roadway was cleared and normal traffic flow was restored by approximately 8:30 AM.
