Truck fire causes major closures on A9 motorway near Bayreuth

A truck fire caused significant traffic disruptions on the A9 motorway on Tuesday afternoon. The incident occurred between the Bindlacher Berg and Bayreuth-Nord junctions, affecting traffic in both directions.

The fire involved a semi-trailer loaded with laminate, which ignited in the engine compartment before spreading to the trailer and cargo. The intense heat caused the laminate to melt and drip onto the roadway, creating recurring flare-ups during recovery efforts.

Emergency services worked to manage heavy smoke and extinguish the debris. While the closure in the direction of Berlin was lifted by 20:15, the lane heading toward Munich remained closed for an extended period to allow for recovery operations and ongoing extinguishing efforts.
