Truck fire in Chon Buri forces driver and passenger to jump

A 22-wheel trailer truck carrying a full load of concrete pipes caught fire on the road from Kabin Buri to Sattahip in Chon Buri, Thailand, on September 4. The driver and an 18-year-old passenger, Sakolwat, were forced to jump from the vehicle before the flames engulfed the cab and front section of the truck.

Emergency responders from the Sawang Haet Thung Hiang Rescue Foundation and the Nong Hiang Subdistrict Administrative Organisation arrived at the scene in the Phanat Nikhom district. Firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control within approximately 20 minutes. While the truck's cab and front area sustained heavy damage, the concrete pipes on the trailer remained undamaged, and no injuries were reported.

According to Sakolwat, the vehicle began behaving strangely during its journey from Chachoengsao province toward Ko Pho. He noted that smoke emerged from the front of the cab followed by rapid flames, suggesting the accelerator may have stuck. The exact cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
