Crown Villa residents protest lack of power and water in Vernon

Residents of the Crown Villa trailer park in Vernon, British Columbia, have staged a roadside protest following a five-month loss of essential services. The electricity was disconnected on April 10 by Technical Safety BC due to critical safety risks in the park’s electrical system. Because the water supply relies on an electric pump, residents have also been without reliable water.

Park owner Carolyn Goldstone has been fined $36,000 for safety non-compliance. Goldstone stated she cannot afford the necessary repairs, which are estimated to cost hundreds of thousands of dollars, nor can she cover the fines. She has also been unable to reach a deal to sell the property. Homeowners at the park expressed fear regarding the upcoming winter and the lack of heating and air conditioning.
