Truck fire on A-4 highway near Herencia causes road closure

A truck carrying mattresses caught fire on the A-4 highway near Herencia during the early hours of Friday. The intense smoke forced authorities to completely close the highway in the direction of Andalusia for several hours.

The driver managed to unhitch the burning trailer before the flames reached the tractor unit, escaping uninjured. Emergency services, including firefighters from Alcázar de San Juan and Manzanares, along with the Civil Guard, worked to extinguish the blaze. The fire was controlled around 03:25, allowing partial traffic resumption, though lanes remained restricted to clear the charred debris and inspect the road.
