Truck Fires Prompt Firefighter Responses in Manaus and Mato Grosso, Brazil
A truck ignited on Avenida Autaz Mirim near the Grande Circular shopping center in the eastern zone of Manaus on Wednesday afternoon, drawing the attention of passers‑by and requiring the intervention of the Amazonas Military Fire Brigade. Bystanders used fire extinguishers before firefighters arrived to prevent the blaze from reaching nearby parked vehicles. No injuries were reported and the cause is under investigation.
On Tuesday morning, a fuel‑laden tanker truck caught fire on a farm near Santo Afonso in the state of Mato Grosso. The blaze produced a thick column of dark smoke, prompting the 3rd Independent Company of Military Firefighters from Tangará da Serra to respond. The crew contained the fire and monitored the area for re‑ignition. No casualties were confirmed and authorities will investigate the origin of the fire.
