Madhya Pradesh witnesses two fatal accidents: Maheshwar drowning and Khandwa truck‑car collision

At the Sahastradhara ghat on the Narmada River in Maheshwar, a 30‑year‑old Indore resident, Arpit Haarda, fell into the fast‑moving water while his wife and brother watched. He disappeared within seconds and rescue teams, including divers, have been searching for him.

Near Khandwa, a high‑speed truck struck a family car on the Jagmūrti Narmada River Bridge as the passengers were returning from religious visits to Oonkārēshvara and other sites. The collision dragged the car several metres, killing a woman on the spot and injuring nine others, including the family patriarch Sanjay Gupta. Police have detained the truck driver and are investigating the crash.
