Truck incidents cause major highway disruptions in Australia and Kenya
A semi-trailer truck crash has caused a full closure of the Bells Line of Road in both directions near Berambing, Australia. The incident occurred around 10:00 am on Monday, August 24, when the vehicle tipped onto its side. The driver was treated for minor injuries by emergency services. Motorists are advised to use the Darling Causeway and Great Western Highway as diversions, which are expected to add approximately 1.5 hours to travel times.
In Kenya, heavy traffic congestion has been reported on the Thika Superhighway between Weteithie and Delmonte. The disruption was caused by a truck breaking down near the Bluepost area. The Long Distance Drivers and Conductors Association (LODDCA) issued an alert noting that the breakdown has resulted in long queues affecting private vehicles, matatus, and commercial trucks traveling between Nairobi and Thika.
