Truck overturn in Ilva Mare, Romania injures driver

A heavy truck loaded with stone tipped over on a county road near Ilva Mare in Bistrița‑Năsăud, Romania. The 65‑year‑old driver from Feldru was trapped inside the cab as the load collapsed onto him.

Emergency responders from the local fire station, a heavy‑rescue unit, and the mobile intensive‑care SMURD team arrived, communicated with the conscious driver, and extricated him with the aid of a crane and excavators. He was stabilised on‑site, air‑lifted by a SMURD helicopter, and taken to the university hospital in Târgu Mureș for treatment. Police continue investigating the cause of the accident.

The incident occurred at the intersection of the Lunca Ilvei road and county road 172D, after the driver lost control and the vehicle entered a riverbed, prompting a multi‑agency rescue effort.
