Truck rollover in Wallsend causes traffic disruption

An overturned truck carrying chicken feed caused significant traffic disruption in Wallsend on Monday morning. Emergency services responded to the crash at the intersection of Newcastle Road, Longworth Avenue, and Thomas Street just before 6:00 am.

The driver, a man in his 50s, managed to exit the vehicle on his own and was treated by NSW Ambulance for minor injuries. Fire and Rescue NSW attended the scene to assist with cleaning up the spilled cargo.

Road closures remained in place for several hours, affecting southbound traffic on Longworth Avenue and eastbound lanes on Newcastle Road. NSW Police have launched an investigation into the cause of the rollover and are requesting dashcam or CCTV footage from witnesses to assist with their inquiries.
