Trucking executives cite high costs as barrier to fleet renewal in Brazil

Executives from major automotive manufacturers, including Iveco, Volkswagen Caminhões e Ônibus (VWCO), Scania, and Farizon, have identified high costs as a primary obstacle to fleet renewal in Brazil. Key challenges cited include elevated truck prices, high interest rates, and the rising cost of diesel.

Industry leaders noted that the implementation of Euro 6 emission standards (Proconve) has increased the cost of new vehicles, though the technology is expected to provide long-term benefits. Despite these financial pressures, there has been a 2.5% increase in commercial vehicle traffic on tolled highways.

In response to maintenance cost concerns, Iveco has launched a promotional campaign offering up to 50% discounts on over 120 genuine parts for its Daily, Tector, S-Way, and IVECO BUS lines. The initiative, running through December 2026, aims to assist fleet operators in reducing maintenance expenses through its national dealership network.
