TruckSafe to launch new Safety Management System in Canberra

TruckSafe is set to launch its updated Safety Management System (SMS) in Canberra on November 10. The launch coincides with the 30th anniversary of the organization’s establishment.

The new system is designed to align with the updated Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL) and the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator’s (NHVR) Heavy Vehicle Accreditation Scheme. According to board director Glyn Castanelli, the SMS provides a practical method for operators to meet accreditation requirements and demonstrate that their safety systems are present, suitable, and effective.

Streamlined based on customer feedback, the system maintains rigorous standards, including regular driver medicals and audits from an approved network. The framework is intended to serve a wide range of users, from large enterprises to individual owner-drivers, helping them manage risk and maintain legal compliance within the Australian transport industry.
