Štrudlafest returns to Jaškovo with expanded cultural and culinary program
The Štrudlafest festival has returned to Jaškovo near Ozalj, Croatia, featuring its most extensive program to date. The event combines culinary traditions with various cultural and outdoor activities.
Key highlights include a competition for the best strudel in Croatia, organized in collaboration with Medvedgrad Brewery, which challenges participants to incorporate beer into both sweet and savory strudels. The festival also features the selection of the ‘Zlatna baka’ (Golden Grandmother), an award won by Ana Vujaklija for her expertise in traditional dough preparation.
Cultural activities are centered at Dvorišće tete Marice, offering workshops in traditional ceramics, licitar hearts, and lace-making. A ‘Tesla Corner’ has also been established in partnership with the Nikola Tesla Experience Center Karlovac. Additionally, the Karlovac City Museum is presenting the historical strudel of Dragojla Jarnević.
Outdoor enthusiasts can participate in guided activities such as ‘Štrudla by bike’ cycling tours, ‘Štrudla by kayak’ adventures on the Dobra River, and walking tours. Other attractions include visits to a Highland cattle ranch, the historic Žganjer restaurant, and traditional grain boat rides in Brođani.
