True Balance hosts Korea-India conference on AI financial inclusion
True Balance, an Indian AI fintech platform, co-hosted the Korea-India AI Financial Inclusion Conference on September 9, 2026. Organized alongside the South Asia Center of the Asia Institute at Seoul National University (SNU), the hybrid event connected Gurugram and Seoul to discuss cross-border research and policy regarding financial access.
The conference focused on utilizing artificial intelligence to assess the creditworthiness of “thin-file” borrowers—individuals who lack traditional credit histories. By using consent-based alternative data alongside standard bureau scores, the technology aims to expand formal financial access. Afinit, the parent company of True Balance, and SNU have jointly filed a patent for an AI credit-scoring technology designed to improve evaluations for previously unapproved customers.
According to True Balance, their AI-led credit models have recently resulted in a multi-fold increase in eligible-applicant approvals, a reduction in relative default rates by more than half, and a doubling of credit-risk prediction accuracy. This development addresses a shifting landscape in India, where the share of retail loan originations for new-to-credit consumers fell to 13% in March 2026, while semi-urban and rural consumers now comprise 63% of the country’s credit-active population.
