Trujillo: Explosive detonated at residence in Primavera urbanization

An explosive device was detonated at a residence in the Primavera urbanization of Trujillo during the early hours of Saturday, October 17. The attack occurred around 12:30 a.m. on Isaac Albeniz Street, where an individual placed the device and fled on foot.

The blast caused significant material damage to the property, including shattered windows, damaged aluminum window frames, broken door glass, and cracks in the walls. Residents reported that the sound of the explosion was loud enough to be heard several blocks away.

Authorities believe the attack was an act of extortion intended to intimidate the occupants into paying protection money. Despite a state of emergency and the presence of a Unified Command, criminal gangs continue to operate in the province. The National Police of Peru (PNP) and the Explosive Deactivation Unit (Udex) responded to the scene to assess the damage. Local residents have expressed heightened concern, noting that a similar incident involving an explosive and a threatening letter occurred at the same property several weeks ago.
