Trujillo mayor urges flag display for 205th Independence celebrations
The Provincial Municipality of Trujillo has launched a civic campaign urging residents to fly the national flag on homes and commercial premises throughout July, marking Peru’s 205th Independence anniversary. The initiative is mandated by Municipal Ordinance No. 041‑2009‑MPT, which requires both private and public properties to display the flag from July 1 to July 31, with penalties for non‑compliance. Mayor Mario Reyna Rodríguez emphasized the act as a civic duty and a way to showcase local pride, while also encouraging improvements to building façades to enhance the city’s appearance for visitors.
The municipality said it will soon announce a program of ceremonies, protocol events and other commemorations to celebrate the historic milestone, inviting the public to participate in the patriotic festivities.
