Trujillo prepares for spring parade and municipal elections

Trujillo is preparing for two major upcoming events: the traditional Corso de la Primavera parade and municipal elections. The spring parade is confirmed for September 27, coordinated by the Municipalidad Provincial de Trujillo (MPT), the La Libertad Regional Government, and the Club de Leones. However, the event will take place amidst a state of emergency due to rising crime and ongoing road rehabilitation projects, including work on Manuel Vera Enríquez Avenue.

Regarding local governance, the Jurado Electoral Especial (JEE) has cleared 14 of the 17 original lists to compete for the mayoralty and 15 council seats in the elections scheduled for October 4. Approximately 856,213 people are eligible to vote. Notable candidates include former congressman Carlos Enrique Alva Rojas of Acción Popular, current acting mayor Mario Reyna Rodríguez of Alianza para el Progreso, and Alfredo Galindo Peralta of Alianza Regional por el Perú.
