Trumbetaš Gallery to host exhibition of Pope John Paul II portraits

The Trumbetaš Gallery will host an exhibition titled ‘Portraits of John Paul II in Contemporary Croatian Painting’ on September 1. The collection features 15 works by Croatian academic painters and sculptors dedicated to the memory of the late Pope.

The exhibition marks the 35th anniversary of the Velika Gorica pilgrimage to the shrine of Our Lady of Marija Bistrica. This tradition began in 1991 as a vow to protect the town from the destruction of war. Over three decades, the pilgrimage has grown from a few hundred participants to over three thousand pilgrims from various regions.
