Trump addresses wedding loan claims and Macron defends French sovereignty
President Donald Trump has addressed concerns regarding the financing of his son Donald Trump Jr.’s wedding festivities in the Bahamas. Following reports that Russian oligarch Umar Kremlev, a figure linked to the Kremlin and head of the International Boxing Association, funded several hundred thousand dollars in wedding receptions, the President stated that the money was a loan that his son intends to repay.
Separately, French President Emmanuel Macron has reaffirmed France's sovereignty over the archipelago of Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon. This statement follows geopolitical tensions sparked by Donald Trump, who shared a map depicting the region under United States jurisdiction. Macron described such claims as ‘strange ideas’ during his arrival at the North Atlantic territory, where he is also scheduled to meet with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney to discuss energy and fishing cooperation.
Trump's recent geopolitical assertions have included threats regarding Canada and previous interest in Greenland, though he has reportedly reached a security agreement with Denmark regarding the latter.
