Trump administration allegedly targeted Colorado with federal funding cuts

Reports indicate the Trump administration coordinated a strategy to penalize the state of Colorado following its refusal to release Tina Peters, a convicted felon involved in an election machine tampering plot. Evidence from a White House ‘brainstorm call’ involving five federal agencies suggests a deliberate effort to curtail federal support to the state.

Following the meeting, the Departments of Transportation and Energy reportedly canceled hundreds of millions of dollars in federal grants for Colorado projects. Additionally, the administration vetoed unanimously approved funds for a water project in southeastern Colorado. These actions occurred after President Trump publicly criticized Governor Jared Polis and threatened ‘harsh measures’ against the state.

Senator John Hickenlooper has called for an investigation, demanding that the White House preserve all records related to the December 15 meeting. He has also urged Inspectors General from the involved federal agencies to investigate whether federal resources were improperly used to target a state.
