Trump administration delays $8 billion diesel aid for farmers
The Trump administration has announced that $8 billion in diesel assistance for farmers will be disbursed after the November 3 elections. Richard Fordyce of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) stated that while the exact date is not yet determined, payments are expected toward the end of the year.
Farmers are facing record-high diesel costs for machinery such as tractors and mowers, with the USDA Economic Research Service projecting fuel expenditures will be nearly $5 billion higher than last year. The funds will be drawn from the USDA Commodity Credit Corporation (CCC), which also financed $12 billion in tariff assistance earlier this year.
Separately, the White House has asserted that gasoline and diesel prices will decrease soon due to international energy agreements and domestic measures. These measures include extending exemptions to the Jones Act for aviation fuel imports and granting record exemptions to refineries, such as allowing the sale of gasoline with 15% ethanol nationwide.
