Trump administration deportation figures reach 350,000 in 2026

Under the administration of Donald Trump, the United States has detained more than 70,000 immigrants and deported over 350,000 in 2026, according to border control agencies. While these figures do not exceed the records set during the Barack Obama administration, the methods used have drawn scrutiny for potentially bypassing legal protections.

One case involves Iván Porras, a 33-year-old photographer who arrived in the U.S. at age nine. Porras was subject to legislation protecting those who arrived as children, but he was deported after being transferred between detention centers in Las Vegas and New Mexico. He claims the transfer caused him to miss a bond hearing because he was led to believe his legal process would continue at the new facility. Despite a judge acknowledging his two decades of residency and his young daughter, the deportation was finalized. Porras is now part of a community of deportees in Mexico City.
