Trump administration expands White House projects and eases EPA oversight

These projects include the construction of a ballroom, a new helipad, and the paving over of the Rose Garden. The administration has frequently bypassed traditional norms and outpaced judicial reviews to complete these works, such as the rapid renovation of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool.

Simultaneously, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), led by Administrator Lee Zeldin, is implementing policies designed to reduce regulatory hurdles for AI infrastructure and hyperscale data centers. Proposed changes include eliminating pre-construction notification requirements under the Clean Water Act and allowing site clearing to begin before air permits are finalized. These measures aim to support the growth of data centers but would significantly limit the ability of local communities and citizens to participate in the environmental review process.
