Trump administration faces pressure over proposed F110 engine sale to Turkey

The American Hellenic Institute (AHI) sent a letter to President Donald Trump urging the U.S. government to halt the proposed sale of GE F110 jet engines for Turkey's KAAN fighter program. The institute highlighted the need for Congress to exercise its constitutional oversight and warned that the sale could enable Turkey to acquire F‑35 technology in violation of the CAATSA sanctions imposed after Ankara purchased the Russian S‑400 system.

Trump has publicly expressed willingness to "make Turkey happy" ahead of a NATO summit, suggesting a possible lifting of sanctions and a broader rapprochement. However, the White House cannot bypass congressional restrictions, and any reversal of Turkey’s exclusion from the F‑35 program would require congressional approval and resolution of the S‑400 issue.
