Trump Administration invests in rural healthcare for Ohio and Georgia

The Trump Administration is deploying significant federal funding through the Rural Health Transformation Program (RHTP) to modernize healthcare infrastructure in rural Ohio and Georgia.

In Ohio, a $3.15 million investment aims to enhance pharmacy connectivity across 73 rural counties. The funding will link independent pharmacies, health centers, and outpatient hospitals to improve access to prescription drug information. This initiative is designed to help providers prevent dangerous drug interactions and combat the fraudulent acquisition of controlled substances by integrating prescription drug monitoring programs into electronic health records.

In Georgia, $93.3 million is being allocated to 87 rural hospitals to expand telehealth, surgical robotics, and specialized care. This investment supports the state’s transition toward value-based care models and includes funding for hospital cybersecurity, dementia care capacity, and workforce training for paramedics and EMTs. This deployment completes Georgia’s first-year funding commitment under the broader $50 billion RHTP framework.
