Trump administration pushes mass deportations as ICE reports 2,000 daily arrests

White House immigration czar Tom Homan said the Trump administration remains committed to a mass‑deportation strategy, asserting that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has not scaled back its nationwide enforcement despite numerous legal challenges. He noted that approximately 60% of recent ICE arrests involve individuals with criminal records and that the agency is arresting about 2,000 migrants per day, a roughly 40% increase over the same period last year and the highest monthly numbers in agency history.

Homan highlighted record‑setting arrests in June and projected July to surpass those figures, claiming the administration has carried out more than one million removals since President Donald Trump returned to office. He defended DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin and dismissed criticism that the government is not doing enough, while acknowledging over 100 nationwide injunctions challenging immigration arrests, detention policies and deportations.
