Trump Administration revokes over 175,000 visas

The Trump Administration has revoked more than 175,000 visas for foreign nationals since returning to the White House. According to the U.S. Department of State, these cancellations are part of a continuous surveillance system for individuals holding American visas.

While the Department of State has not provided a specific breakdown of the reasons for each revocation, it cited various causes including immigration violations, criminal activity, national security risks, fraud, and political expressions. The agency noted that the majority of recent cases stemmed from contact with law enforcement, specifically involving offenses such as assault, driving under the influence, theft, and drug-related crimes. Other cited examples include arrests or accusations related to kidnapping, human trafficking, domestic violence, and possession of child sexual abuse material.

The scale of these revocations has increased significantly compared to previous periods. The Department of State reported approximately 100,000 visa revocations during 2025, meaning the current figure of over 175,000 by mid-August 2026 represents more than double the previous year's total.
