The plan includes annual draining, cleaning of debris, filters and concrete, and ongoing operation of a $1.7 million ozone nanobubbler system intended to keep the water clear. Despite the overhaul, vivid green algae quickly reappeared after the pool was refilled in early June, prompting the administration to dump hydrogen peroxide and tout the nanobubbler technology. Investigations revealed that the epoxy resin coating applied during the renovation, supplied by Rhino Linings, is flagged by OSHA as toxic to aquatic life, raising concerns about long‑term water quality. Officials have also blamed alleged vandalism for damage to the lining, though no evidence has confirmed the claim. The contractor will be responsible for weekly pressure‑washing, monthly cleaning of coping stones, and a two‑week annual drain for inspection, with bid submissions due July 8.
