Trump administration’s pro‑deportation coalition gathers on Washington yacht

Around 200 immigration activists, former ICE officials, and conservative figures convened aboard a yacht on the Potomac River in Washington, D.C., to press the Trump administration for a large‑scale deportation push. The meeting, organized by lawyer Mike Howell, featured ex‑congressman Steve King, former ICE deputy Scott Mechkowski, and representatives of Heritage Foundation and the Claremont Institute.

Participants urged President Donald Trump to meet his campaign promise of deporting over one million people annually, citing the administration’s claim of more than 600,000 deportations to date. The gathering came amid heightened scrutiny after two migrants—Mexican national Lorenzo Salgado and Colombian Johan Durán—were fatally shot by ICE agents in Texas and Maine, and after the administration rejected diplomatic letters from Mexico’s ambassador regarding ICE conduct.
