Trump and Kushner propose new Ukraine peace approaches

Donald Trump and his son-in-law, Jared Kushner, have proposed new approaches regarding the conflict in Ukraine that critics describe as shifting responsibility onto Kyiv.

During the YES Forum in Kyiv, Jared Kushner suggested that a peace agreement is already prepared but requires Ukraine to withdraw to the lines demanded by Vladimir Putin in the Donbas region. Kushner characterized the war as “negative-sum” while framing peace and business as “positive-sum.”

Following these remarks, Donald Trump urged President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to cease Ukrainian attacks on Russian oil refineries, citing concerns that such actions drive up global diesel prices. Western analysts have noted that both statements share a common theme of delegating responsibility for the continuation of the war to the attacked party.
