Ukraine war: Russia rejects peace offers amid missile and drone attacks

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Russia has turned down dozens of Kyiv's proposals for a peace settlement this year, accusing President Vladimir Putin of having no intention to end the war. He noted that the United States, Turkey, European nations and Arab states are working to arrange a high‑level meeting between the two sides.

A large Russian missile and drone strike on Kyiv killed one person and injured 16, with additional damage reported across multiple Ukrainian regions, including Sumy, Chernihiv and Odessa. Zelensky said defending against ballistic missiles is now a top priority.

Ukrainian drones have also hit Russian oil infrastructure, igniting fires at three depots in the Stavropol region and striking vessels in the Black Sea, with no casualties reported.

U.S. President Donald Trump asserted that the conflict could be resolved before the end of his term in 2029, claiming that Putin is ready to negotiate, while the Trump administration works on a peace plan.

Russian insiders suggest that, following Ukraine's deep‑inside attacks, Putin may be preparing to further escalate the war in the coming months.
