Trump and Zelensky hold brief G7 talks as US eyes renewed Ukraine focus

Trump called the meeting “very good,” expressed frustration that the Russia‑Ukraine war has dragged on, and framed the conflict mainly in terms of U.S. arms sales. He urged Russia to reach a deal and signaled that, now that an Iran framework has been announced, Washington could re‑impose sanctions on Russian oil and shift more attention back to Ukraine.

Zelensky praised the “unanimity” among G‑7 leaders on the war, showed a photo of the Kyiv‑Pechersk Lavra cathedral attack, and asked Trump about licensing to allow Ukraine to produce its own Patriot missiles.
