Trump approval declines among Catholic voters, Pew survey finds

A new Pew Research Center survey indicates that President Donald Trump’s approval ratings among Catholic voters have declined significantly during his second term. Overall Catholic approval for the president fell from 47% at the start of his term to 30% in October 2026.

The decline is evident across various demographics. Among Hispanic Catholics, approval dropped from 31% to 18%, while among white Catholics, it fell from 59% to 39%. Even among white evangelicals, the group where Trump maintains the highest support, approval ratings saw a 20-point decrease, moving from 78% to 58%.

As the midterm elections approach, these shifts may influence congressional races. The survey highlights a sharp divide between white and Hispanic Catholics regarding party preference. While 50% of white Catholics indicated they would support a Republican candidate for the House, 59% of Hispanic Catholics stated they would vote for a Democrat.
